Recoat have gathered together a group of 7 artists to showcase the genre; Pop Surrealism, a fairly young movement in the art world. The work is often inspired by comic book art, punk music, and pop, street, and underground cultures. As the name suggests, the work tends to be bizarre or twisted and themes are juxtaposed concerning visual jokes, politics, or pop references. There tends to be an emphasis on technical skill in creating the work, where old and new techniques of painting are married together and a respect is given to quality rendering.
