Gen Up: Create Digital Content
TRC Media has created a new fast-track programme for emerging digital talent.
Gen Up was piloted in Scotland last year and was an immediate success. It gives new digital talent (from games, computer arts and design, animation etc.,) an intensive mix of hands-on experience, industry immersion and internships with Channel 4, BBC, games companies, advertising agencies and other parts of digital media.
This year TRC is running Gen Up in both Scotland and the north of England. It’s a very demanding programme and the delegates (and industry) love it!
Gen Up is designed for graduates or those new to the industry that have a real talent for creating digital content for multiplatform. It’s a unique immersion programme which will gives participants an opportunity to learn from leading practitioners in multiplatform, games, animation, television, advertising, digital design and marketing. The programme offers a range of expert seminars, hand-on workshops, industry immersion and an internship.
It’s a full-time, five week programme covering:
- Digital communications and advertising
- Games and animation
- Television and multiplatform
- Creative ideas for digital media
- Creative pitching
- Professional development (teamworking, interview techniques, networking skills)
Complemented by a week at Channel 4 in London immersed in the broadcaster’s operations including:
- 4iP
- audience insight, behaviour and analytics
- education
- advertising sales
- cross platform commissioning
- sponsorship
- marketing
In addition a week at the BBC experiencing a range of production output in departments including:
- News
- Childrens
- Location
- Post Production
- Future Media and Technology
To complete the programme participants have a week’s internship in a digital media company. On top of all this delegates receive a weekly training grant of £250 for the duration of the programme. TRC’s funding partners in Gen Up are Channel 4 and Creative Scotland.
